About Couples Therapy

Resolve Conflicts and Develop Trust

A goal of this therapy is to teach couples how to have healthy conversations to resolve conflicts in a positive manner without hurting either partner.

Whether you've never been to marriage counseling before or have been unsuccessful in previous attempts, I can help.

What You Can Experience Through Counseling

  • Reduced anxiety and stress
  • A loving and expanding relationship

  • Enhanced intimacy
  • Improved relationships with friends, family, and coworkers

Why Haven't We Been Able to Fix It on Our Own?

Many couples say "we tried everything, and nothing has worked". It’s difficult to change without a professional to help clarify meaning without prejudice. It is wise to ask for help and to "try" something different. Usually, when we "try to fix it ourselves", we do what we can to change the other person without realizing that if both people don’t change there will be no progress.

Why Do People Think That a Couple’s Problem is the Fault of One Person?

Imagine this: two people are pushing each opposite side of a door. There will be no movement. When two people carry the same size of an item, they can’t pass each other in the same hallway. The key to change is adjusting to meet the needs of both parties. As the saying goes, “change a little to accomplish a lot.” We are trained to help recognize problems and patterns while guiding you to learn new ways of communicating and loving.

How to Tell If You Need Couples Therapy

Ask yourself the following questions. If you answer yes to most or all of these questions, your relationship will benefit from couples therapy.

  • Do you find talking things over seems useless?
  • Do you feel you do not see eye to eye on financial decisions?
  • Are you or your partner sarcastic with one another?
  • Do you seem to lead parallel lives?
  • Do you feel lonely?
  • Do attempts to repair hurt seem to backfire?
  • Is your sex life unfulfilling?
  • Do either of you feel frequently criticized by the other?
  • Do you feel blamed or find yourself feeling defensive?
